PYEONGCHANG 2018 WINTER OLYMPIC BID - MOVING IMAGE PRODUCTION

Exactly like the Qatar 2022 Bid, during the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Bid, I was the moving image producer working for New Moon on behalf of the Bid. Working across a large volume of assets, on location, collaborating closely with the Agency, Bid and creative stakeholders from inception, through to final delivery and trafficking. Producing brand films, commercials and content for TV, social, print, online and cinema simultaneously, to help drive the PyeongChang 2018 Bid journey and narrative and, most importantly, build an armoury of assets that were used at the various IOC presentation stages, from the Opening Bid film through to final presentations films.

Responsibilities included engaging local production services to undertake filming, organising all the pre-production, production and post production bookings, logistics, schedules, managing cost and managing and tracking all media assets throughout the production process. Often the first person sent from the UK production team.

Shooting took place on location in South Korea and London, whilst all the offline, 3D modelling/graphics, compositing and final online stages took place back in London. The role was to ensure that the production was delivered on time, on message and within budget, whilst being able to work well under pressure, facilitating last minute changes and requests and maintaining a high level of output at all times.

Key to the success of the project was learning and understanding the communication processes and management of crew, cast, facilities within varying cultures and learning to work and film in often-volatile regions of the world.

The PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Bid went on to successfully win the Bid to hosted the Games in 2018.
